Our Approach to Self-Governance

Not left. Not right. Forward. As members of the Unity Party of Colorado, we focus on finding solutions that move our state and country forward rather than focusing on our differences.

We do not attack or vilify other cultures, religions, ethnicities, or spiritual practices. We choose conversation, not conflict. The Unity Paty does agree with a good political dialogue, which includes construction criticisms of other parties on issues that affect the people.

We strive to strike the proper balance between personal freedom and empowering and securing our communities.

Our Platform

I. BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT

Unity supports the passage of a balanced budget amendment in the interests of the nation’s fiscal and economic health. Any short-term stimulative benefits gained by deficit spending are outweighed by the long-term damage that spending inflicts on the economy. It is time to stop spending our children’s inheritance, and it’s time for the state legislatures to apply to Congress for a new Constitutional Convention to pass this and other amendments, per article V of the United States constitution.

II. ECONOMY

The Unity party supports a healthy economy. The Unity party supports worker’s rights and equality in the workplace. The Party supports fair economic measures that strengthen the middle- and lower-income classes and equalizes the tax burden on all Americans.

III. BALLOT ACCESS

The Unity Party supports fair and reasonable access for all major and minor parties. The Unity Party supports all candidates being given equal access to debates and community forums.

IV. SELF-DEFENSE

The Unity Party supports the right to self-defense.

V. ENHANCE ELECTORAL SECURITY

In this age of hackers and other criminals willing to do anything to advance their own agenda and subvert American democracy. Unity supports the requirement that all individual votes in Federal/State elections, whether they be cast electronically or by other means, be recorded with paper receipts.

VI. PROHIBIT GERRYMANDERING

Unity supports the outlawing of drawing of legislative districts along partisan lines.

VII. PUT CAMPAIGN FINANCES ON SOLID FOUNDATION

We support a constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United Court Case.

VIII. SELF DETERMINATION OF ALL PEOPLES

The Unity Party supports the right to self determination for all peoples.

IX. BETTER VOTING FOR PUBLIC ELECTIONS

The Unity Party of Colorado supports proportional representation.

X. NATURAL RESOURCES

The Unity Party supports protecting Colorado’s water resources. The Unity Party of Colorado finds climate change is real and supports increased investment in sustainable and renewable energy sources.

XI. HUMAN RIGHTS

The Unity Party supports the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and supports human rights regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation and supports a women’s right to choose.

XII. IMMIGRATION

The Unity Party supports transforming immigration policies to create a broad legal pathway for residency that centers on compassion dignity and ethics. Foreign Aid should be used to support environmentally sustainable and socially just economic development to reduce the need for economically motivated immigration.

XIII. POVERTY

The Unity Party supports an increased federal minimum wage. The party also supports policies and laws that will lift individuals and families out of poverty so that they can provide for themselves housing, medical, and food.

We want to engage every single human in cross-cultural conversation at every level: personal relationships, families, townships, counties, states, nations, and the globe.
We want people who do not typically talk to one another to start a conversation and practice listening to many other points of view.
We want to focus on the issues that threaten humanity and show how focusing on these issues can bring us closer together as a global family. We want active participation from all walks of life in these conversations.
